i realize that i am mirroring a previous review/comment, but i, too, did not realize that cartoons went back as far as 1919, the year my late maternal grandmother was born. i am amazed at how great the quality is, as well. it's really wonderful to be able to access to this kind of stuff, and for free! there are some good things left in this chaotic country of ours, after all...

This is the first episode of Felix. Its a black and white film with piano music. From the year 1919. This cartoon deserves over 100 million views.

Master was a term used for any young male person in "the good old days". All my Christmas and birthday cards were always addressed to Master Gerald........

A simple story but good, I had not realised that animation on film went back that far and the quality is also good for the time.

Felix is introduced to the general masses in this cartoon. Here, he's called "Master Tom", which is very very odd, and no explanation is around for why that name was chosen. Anyways, he's trying to woo the neighborhood cat, asking it to meet him around the ash bin and all that. Woot! He then discovers that his lady love has some secrets, a litter of kittens! He doesn't want any of that, and breaks off the relationship.

The ending is what kills me, or should I say, kills Felix. That's right, he sees a gas nozzle, puts his mouth on it, and turns it on! WOW!
